Video of an Ice Cream Truck Funeral Procession is a Bittersweet Spectacle

I've been thinking a lot about mortality lately. It's hard not to. Death is everywhere all the time, especially right now. The grim times we live in, and now, the extra time on our hands leaves our brains to run around their unpleasant playgrounds, bouncing from negative thought to negative thought.

Some of the questions that arise involve the fleeting nature of our relationships. Will my friends cry when I die? Who will attend my funeral? Should I make a dope Spotify list or have the funeral director slam the “Play” button on Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore” for comedic effect? Some people don’t have to worry about attendance. Every fireman, police officer and member of the military has a built-in posthumous hype squad. And now, thanks to Twitter user  @LouisaD__, we  know the same is true for ice cream men.

After sharing the sad, yet ultimate wholesome footage with her followers, someone chimed in to share that it's actually a tradition for most vehicular ice cream purveyors. The ritual happens more than we might think.

The wholesomeness doesn't stop there. When people started sending OP Louisa Davies money, she found the deceased's family and is donating the money to cancer research. It's situations like this that restore our faith in humanity for a little while. Which is no easy feat when people seem resigned to hurting one another instead of fostering community. We need to be more like ice cream men.
