'[She was] so weak she couldn't walk': Husband finds a huddled 4-months-old kitten in a gas station, immediately scoops her to his warm home and loving family

Saying that the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways is already old news. Every cat person who has ever heard at least one cat adoption story knows this secret agency / institution / entity works in the shadows, behind the scenes, always watching and searching - to match the right cat to the right people. To make some successful adoptions happen, both for people who adopt cats, and also for cats who adopt their hoomans. Nobody knows who or what the CDS is, exactly, but we can all say we're so grateful for its work.

Right now, when the weather is becoming harsher and colder by the day, it has made an adoption story so much sweeter than any other we've heard about recently. You see, this family who adopted this sweet stray (yes, spoiler: the ending is happy) is no stranger to cats. Their daughter already had her soul-cat, but sadly, he had already passed over the rainbow bridge. It's sad, and it's a part of life every cat pawrent needs to accept. But the CDS sent a signal - on the exact day of her previous cat's passing, her father found a 4-month-old kitten huddled in a gas station, hiding from the cold.

Being the sweet man that he is, he scooped this floofy feline and brought her to his home. We assume he knew his family would be thrilled to add this cute cat to their home, to their hearts. We love it when a cat in need gets adopted, especially in this kind of weather. Cats deserve warmth, they deserve love, and they deserve a home.

    On Thursday, just a few days ago, my hubby found a kitten shivering and huddled next to the gas pump, filthy with grease and oil, with eyes. and one nostril sealed shut with mucus and so weak she couldn't walk.

    He snatched her right up and brought her home. We took her to our vet first thing the next morning and now she's on antibiotics and high calorie wet food along with Tiki Baby Thrive pouches while we nurse her back to health.

  • Seeing a cat who was a stray up until not long ago all bundled up in a warm and cozy blanket, is one of the most heartwarming things a cat person can look at for an immediate mood boost. It's like we're all coming together in feeling good about feline happy endings. Successful adoptions are the best.

    Poor thing was so wobbly from malnutrition and dehydration that I was concerned she may have a neurological issue but she's able to open her eyes a little more and becoming more steady by the day.

    According to our vet, she is around 4 months old. She weighed under 3 pounds initially but she feels like she's gained weight already lol.

    We're doing oral antibiotics and antibiotic eye ointment for her URI, and also had an antibiotic injection at the vet.

    Once she's healthy, we'll bathe her and scrub the rest of the grease off (we wipe her down with a warm damp cloth every time we go in and see her) as well as doing vaccines and test for FIV - until then she's in isolation to prevent our other babies from getting sick.

  • What a loving face, what a happy face, what a cute face. This cat won, and we're sure her now-family won her as well. She looks like a sweetheart, and they seem so kind.

    Hubby never goes to that gas station and can't explain why he did that night. We believe Carlos led him to this desperate kitten and she is now in her forever home.

    She's getting stronger by the day and is so sweet and affectionate. The moment hubby put her in his lap and cranked the heater, she began purring and making biscuits.
