I asked her to come yesterday cause I had a package I needed brought in. She's a night owl and I said random late night check ins would be fine.

At 4am she texted me "please call me when you can" When I woke up I found this alarming, I called her several times like cycles of 4 times every 2 hours.

I asked her for the hundred bucks back and said it's cool. What pissed me off was she didn't have the money to give back she spent it and was broke and asked to pay me in installments.

well_caffeinated_mom Is this out of character for her or are these kind of excuses/explanations frequent with her? Also $100 seems awfully steep for checking in on a friend's cat, I would do this kind of thing for free for literally any of my friends and most of them would do the same

PipiForever Why didn't she just text the situation. She's a good friend but couldn't think this far ahead. Sounds kind of sad but I would let her pay you back in installments. If you think it's going to eat away at you give up on the friendship.

OP Correct-Role760 Literally I was like why didn't you just say that in a text. She didn't haven an answer other than she was "disregulated and overwhelmed"

Secret_Sister_Sarah If my cat sitter texted me at 4:00AM saying "please call me when you can" and then GHOSTED me when I tried to call her, I would absolutely lose my shit worrying about my cats! Fuck! She HAS to have more sense than that. I'd be done with her, too, but I'd be civil until getting my hundred bucks back.

Lotus-Logic Sounds like you've got a real winner there. You paid her to be a responsible adult and she flaked harder than a bad pancake. Eating the money might sting, but cutting ties with someone who can't handle a little responsibility sounds like a solid life choice. Good luck finding a pet sitter who won't ghost you at 4 a.m.
