'I asked her for the 100$ back. She didn't have the money.': Friend agrees to cat-sit, doesn't show up, ghosts the cat owner, and never returns the payment

Cats are the most impawrtant thing in a cat parent's life. So entrusting their safety to someone else is a big deal.

If you're a cat pawrent yourself, you probably know exactly what we're talking about. Once you adopt a cat, your cat becomes your whole world. It's very hard to put your whole world in the hands of someone else… But sometimes life happens. You go on a business trip for your work. You go on a family vacation for the holidays. You go on a camping trip with your friends. Some places you can't take your cat to. And that's when you need a trusted cat-sitter, one you know you can trust. A friend, for example.

You'd think that would suffice. But not for this woman. True, she asked her friend to cat-sit, but even we can't imagine any of our friends doing what she did. Not only didn't she actually show up to take care of the cat (we would freak), but she bailed with the upfront payment, ghosting the cat mom who needed to emergency-contact a professional cat sitter instead, paying extra. Seriously, what "friend" would do that? As cat pawrents ourselves, we're livid.

It's bad enough to be ghosted by your friend, whatever the reason. But they're responsible for your cat while you're not there? That's a very red line to cross. It's a red line regardless of the relationship you have with your designated cat-sitter, but the fact that she considers her a friend must really hurt.

That's a lot of money to "eat". But we understand it like this - if someone “holds” your money, but your (and in this case, your cat's) stability depends on cutting the ties, and that's worth more than the sum of money? Well, “eat” is the solution, apparently. We hope she will get the money either way, because that's just the fair outcome of this situation.
