Wife makes a deal with husband to adopt the cat that appeared on the family's farm just before they moved, if she's still available after a month: 'I went back to the rescue and adopted her.'

The CDS doesn't care about good timing - just for a successful adoption.

When the Cat Distribution System sends a cat your way, it means you're owed congratulations - you will be a pawrent to a purrecious little fluffball. It doesn't ask if this is a good time, the CDS doesn't knock on doors asking if you have a meowment to hear about their list of cats in need of a home. It sends the cat your way and - congrats! You're a pawrent. Some cats even force their way into your home until you adopt them. It's not a question of whether you're ready to adopt a cat, it's a question of your level of pre-readiness. You might be in the middle of something, like moving to a new place… Which is exactly what happened to this one family who were about to move away and were chosen by a sweet stray cat on their property.

What do you do in this situation? Well, the wife didn't hesitate for a second. Sure, the CDS timing was really bad, but a decision was made - this cat will be taken care of, despite moving day inching so close with every passing day. It took one deal with hubby - let's TNR the cat, give her to a nice shelter, and if she's still available after a month from moving, we're adopting. Spoiler alert: She's in her forever home, happy and safe.

It can be for a little snuggle time, a quick pet, or a full-on feline adoption process into your family (you know, chosen by the CDS). And this cat? Well, you already know which type it was here. Still very cute.

  • Seeing this “I want you to pet me even more than your hand can handle” sort of situation with a cat is knowing this cat is in good hands. Petting hands. Feeding hands. Loving hands. This cat is loved, safe, fed, and most importantly - part of a family.

    Cats might survive alone, but they are actually highly social creatures. In the wild, many cats form colonies with shared sleeping spots, group childcare, and very serious discussions conducted entirely through blinks and tail flicks. Domestic cats keep this energy, bonding deeply with humans and other animals, even if they pretend it’s “no big deal”. They communicate with scent marking, gentle headbutts, slow blinks, and a wide range of meows mostly reserved just for us - because we’re bad at speaking Cat. They seek companionship, routine, and shared spaces, and while they value independence, most cats prefer having a social circle. They don’t ignore you out of spite - they’re just socially introverted extroverts with boundaries.
