Instead of paying they treat her like a villain. The mom says she will get her money “eventually” as if that is a payment plan and then threatens to tell everyone she is holding the trip “hostage” if she does not hand over the reservation details. The ex jumps in calling her unreasonable and insisting she is “making everything about money” even though he knows they are struggling. She looks at the situation and realizes she has two options one is to cancel the whole thing and let them rebook at much higher prices the other is to actually use the vacation she paid for. She picks the vacation. She tells them she will take one room at the Airbnb they can have the rest and she already has the time off.

A woman dates a man for a year and a half and ends up caught in the middle of his cousin’s beach wedding plans. Before the relationship goes south his mom asks her to book flights and hotels for a whole group of people assuming she will front the cost because she has decent credit. She puts over three thousand dollars on her card they promise to pay her back and she treats the whole thing like a temporary loan with a clearly defined end date. Three months later the relationship ends but the bill does not magically disappear. His mom emails asking for the booking details and the woman reminds her they still owe her money and that she is not going anymore so she wants her portion of the hotel covered.

The strangest part is that the family treats her decision to protect her own money as the real breakup. They want her to let go of the reservation refund nothing respect their sketchy timeline and still feel grateful for the “thoughtfulness” of eventually paying her back.

Having a credit card doesn’t make you a philanthropist, and crazy entitled people who treat your finances like public charity obviously don't make you responsible for their personal problems.
