Sure, the circumstances of this incident are amusing in theory, but in practice, it's no laughing matter. Maintaining a level of professionalism during such an awkward, extended moment must have been excruciating, and it inevitably hurt the otherwise qualified candidate's chances here.
Of course, it should not have had any effect on his likelihood of landing the position whatsoever, but in this case, it did. The terribly inappropriate HR manager would be the primary reason for that.

Thankfully, the recruiter, who shared this story with the members of this online community, came to the poor guy's defense. It's not his fault that there wasn't a chair wide enough for him. The fact that the HR manager placed blame on the recruiter for not taking his size into account before setting up an interview is a serious display of a lack of ethics.
After all, the candidate met all the criteria for the position they were hiring. Sure, the recruiter had not actually met the candidate in person prior to this interview, but even if he had, it would have been outlandish to deprive this guy of a worthy opportunity because of how he looked.
