Mom and stepdad force 14-year-old to share his bedroom with his baby sister, despite having enough bedrooms for them to have their own rooms

Is it appropriate for a teenager to share a room with a baby?

Parents talk about the first couple of years of their children's lives as a sleepless time for a reason. They go from feeling secure that they will be able to get 7-8 hours of shut-eye without any problems, to waking up every hour on the hour out of fear that their child needs them. Even if they're not nervous about their baby enough to wake up from anxiety, a lot of babies do not sleep through the night without scream-crying, and comforting them enough to get them back to sleep can be an hours-long process.

Teenagers need a lot more sleep than full-grown adults. While many adults can function just fine on 6 hours of sleep, the same cannot be said for teenagers, who need 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night to show up to school as their best selves. You would think that parents who have a baby and a teenager at the same time would be incredibly mindful not to disrupt their teenager's sleep by making them share a room with a baby, but the parents in this story are doing just the opposite. They have deliberately placed their baby in the same bedroom as their 14-year-old son/stepson, all because they don't want to move into their own house (they live with their mom/grandma/mother-in-law) and disrupt the mom's work-from-home setup.
