Family takes a “Not My Cat” to the vet only to realize the independent stray has officially promoted them to permanent staff: ‘This is 100% your cat. Congrats!’

When a cat chooses us, it's always a blessing. It's already hard to win the trust of a cat, so if and when you do - it's an easy choice to embrace it with both hands. But we know cats are very opinionated, and this one here? She adopted her humans, for sure, but very much in her own terms.

It's not every Tuesday and Wednesday that a cat comes your way, feels comfortable in your home, and adopts themselves as an integral part of your family. But when it happens, almost like the cat is sent by the Cat Distribution System right to your door, it's a magical situation. Even if the cat has their own opinions on how and when they should be adopted, and with what particular cat-set rules they set - it's always a happy occasion that a cat finds their way into a family. Even if it already has two other cats and four dogs - like this family who shared their experience below.

All of that is especially true if the cat decides to divide their time between families. Some cats are poly… and there's nothing we can do to change them. We all know that cats, as cute as they are, can be one of the most stubborn animals. Their strong will is sometimes heavier than a hippopotamus refusing to go out of the lake - and let's see anyone try to defy them. And this one cat here below? Well, that's just who she is - and her family loves her for exactly who she is. And their neighbor also, probably.

Crookshanks is such a great name for this feline lady. If you've been living under a magical rock and don't know the names of obscure Harry Potter characters, let us elaborate:
In the books, and only a little bit in the movies (and maybe some more in the future HBO series), Crookshanks is Hermione's cat. He's fluffy and orange, and his strong will is as large as his meowgnificent mane. He does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and is actually smart enough to get the trio of main characters out of trouble… sort of.
So we think that this roaming cat this family adopted is a purrfect fit for this name. Crookshanks, oh Crookshanks, we love her.
