Well, that's a new one. Guest moved *all* her personal possessions into our Airbnb for a week.

This one blindsided me. Girl messages me a couple weeks ago. "I live in the neighborhood and my home is having work done for a week. I'd like a place to relax". She had 22 five-star reviews. Seemed like an easy stay.

Today was checkout day (11am). She messaged me a 10:15 saying she overslept and asked if she could stay until 2. I let her know we have a 4pm check-in, but that I could accommodate 1pm if that worked for her. She said absolutely and thanked me. I drive up to the home at 1:20pm. There's a car backed into the driveway. Uh oh. Then I look at the front porch.

It's *PACKED* full of boxes, laundry, furniture, etc. I realize she's loading up her Prius and making trips with all this stuff. I park down the street and watch her run 3 more car fulls of stuff before she's done. I'd estimate there was enough stuff there to have filled a small u-haul. Especially if she'd been doing this since messaging me in the morning.

The inside of the home was even stranger. She didn't use the master bedroom- she slept in the smallest guest bedroom and left everything else untouched. Home was spotless except for packing debris *everywhere* on the floors. I mean... I guess you're allowed to bring as much stuff with for your stay as you like? If she'd timed moving it all better, I wouldn't have even known. But I am so confused.

    Commenters gave some possible explanations.

MosterHoster sounds like a stressful week for her

swimming_in_ag... I wonder if she moved a bunch of stuff out due to construction dust or mould. I wouldn't stress it if she moved it herself, left the place clean, and actually left.

KingKilla_94 Seems like she k led 2 bird with one stone. Like if she was getting her floor replaced why pay for storage or movers she already rented your space

WesternPeak425 Looks like she avoided using the master bedroom to minimise cleaning effort for you

ColoBouldo I've had the same thing for a month rental. Local renovation that went over timeline. However, they left EVERYTHING a wreck (among the worst two in more than 10 years of continuous hosting). Person was a well known TV news weather person...and a total slob. Guess they were used to everyone taking care of them.

kdollarsign2 I suspect the master was filled with her stuff

Different-Tip6587 If she took everything away, left it clean and paid then I don't see what the issue is. I personally wouldn't have a problem with it but maybe I'm missing something here?

SMWatches Honestly, this sounds like someone using your place as a temporary storage/ staging space while work was happening at their home. A bit unusual, but not necessarily a problem if everything was left clean and nothing was damaged.

I've had a couple guests do something similar during renovations or moves. They just needed a quiet place to sleep while their normal routine was upside down. The amount of stuff can look wild from the outside, but as long as occupancy rules weren't broken and the

property was respected, there's usually not much to act on. That said, experiences like this are a good reminder to have clear wording in your house rules about things like storage, deliveries, or using the property for moving purposes. Most guests won't read between the lines unless it's written down somewhere.

Over time I started keeping small notes and guidelines. for situations I didn't expect at first. Makes the next surprise a lot less confusing.

Safe-Savings-6612 Nooooooo I had someone do this and it ended with me losing about $7k and the sheriff chucking all her cr p in the street.

frigginuhohs I've seen people do this when they get their house fumigated for termites. You have to remove all food, meds, toiletries, plants, etc.

OkProduce437 I thought this was about me for a minute - but we got out in time!! I had a flood in my house and had to stay in a local Airbnb for ~10 days. The house was very well appointed, but still ended up

bringing a LOT of things from my house just to avoid having to waste/doubling up. Food, snacks, pillows, coffee maker (not a fan of single use), cat tree, litter box, more games, etc - for 3 people. It took us a couple trips and I have often wondered what the hosts/neighbors were thinking.

Sleeplessnsea Doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Probably had to get things out of her house for repairs and it sounds like she was respectful about it.
