  • AITH for refusing to keep accepting my neighbor's deliveries after she ignored my request?

I work from home so I'm usually around when delivery drivers come by. A few months ago my neighbor asked if I could accept a package for her because she wasn't going to be home. I said sure because it wasn't a big deal.
  • Since then it has slowly turned into a regular thing. At first it was once every couple of weeks then multiple times a week. Some days I would have two or three
  • packages for her sitting in my hallway. She never really asked beforehand anymore and would just put my apartment number as the delivery instruction.
  • I started getting uncomfortable with it because I don't want to be responsible if something expensive goes missing or gets damaged. I also got tired of having boxes taking up space in my apartment.

  • About a month ago I politely told her that I wasn't comfortable continuing to accept packages and that she should use a package locker or another delivery option instead. She said she understood.
  • The problem is that nothing changed. Delivery drivers kept showing up at my door with her packages. Last week I reminded her again and she apologized and said she'd fix it.

  • Yesterday another package arrived. This time I told the driver I couldn't accept it. The package was marked undeliverable and apparently had to be rescheduled.
  • My neighbor is now upset because she had been waiting for that item and says it would have taken me only a few seconds to bring it inside. I told her that I had already asked twice not to be involved and that she ignored those requests.
  • A couple of friends think I should have just accepted the package because it's such a small favor. Others think she crossed a line when she kept using my apartment as her delivery point after I told her to stop.
  • em1977 It wasn't a favor, it was an unpaid doorman job. her and your friends.
  • Maleficent_Might5448 She was asked twice and ignored it both times so...she fafo.
  • Mountain-Status569 NTA. It was a small favor. Now it's turned into a regular chore. You gave your neighbor 2 warnings, and they did not act on either.
  • Rubycon NTA it would annoy me as well. I have an old building that's locked during the day so I'll occasionally send packages to my sister, but
  • she doesn't care and it's not every week. I'd never ask a neighbor routinely. The rest I have delivered to a nearby Whole Foods. Yeah it's an errand but not a huge deal. She's being an annoying neighbor
  • Rayen_Nevaeh NTA To accept one package is a "small favour".. to be expected to do it multiple times per week is an inconvenience. It's not like you're even friends.
  • No_Interview_2481 Enough is enough. She can change the delivery address to where she works
