  • Ex 30M blocked me 30F for years, then contacted me right before my wedding. Thoughts?

1 30F am married now, but something happened shortly before my wedding that still occasionally crosses my mind, and I'm curious what outsiders would think.
  • For context, my ex 30M and I had a very intense, complicated relationship/situationship from around 2013-2017. We were never officially boyfriend and girlfriend, but we were emotionally involved for years.

  • The relationship was unstable, full of mixed signals, and ultimately ended badly. I cut contact in 2017. We had one brief closure conversation in 2018 and that was it.

  • He later got married in 2022 and became a father in 2023. I eventually moved on and became engaged to my now husband 28M. By the time all of this happened, we were only a few weeks away from our wedding.

  • Over the years, my ex had blocked me on basically every social media platform. We had no communication whatsoever. The only place we technically still had visibility of each other was LinkedIn.

  • Then, a few weeks before my wedding, several things happened in a short span of time:

  • -He followed me on LinkedIn. -He liked one of my recent posts. -Around the same time, he posted a cryptic photo from a convenience store near my family's old neighborhood.

  • What made that last part stand out was that I had already been living abroad. for a couple of years by then, and that area had personal significance because it's where my family lived when he knew me.

  • Then things got even weirder. Within a short time: He removed the like. He unfollowed me. But shortly after that, he sent me a Linkedln connection request.

  • I never responded. Instead, I talked it through with my parents and my fiancé (now husband).

  • | ultimately declined the request and updated my LinkedIn profile photo to one that included my fiancé and me in a professional setting. No conversation ever happened.

  • To this day, I genuinely don't know what to make of it. The things that stand out to me are:

  • The timing (right before my wedding). The fact that he had blocked me everywhere else for years. The sequence of actions that seemed hesitant or conflicted.

  • The lack of any direct message explaining what he wanted.
