Are the robots after us? Or is it our Bosses?


In the midst of this AI revolution, a few things started to seem normal, like a lot of industries being almost entirely run by robots, or the fact that there is no way to talk to a human being when calling your local shipping company, but what I never expected was that AIs were going to make mistakes, and we were going to have to pay for them. Maybe that was the first thing to expect, instead of a happily-ever-after where robots would work and we got to have fun and lie in the sun.

In my wildest dreams, this AI thing escalates so much that companies completely stop hiring employees and deliver such terrible service that they are finally forced to value humans again. I think this is called "The paradox of automation", it's about how crucial human contribution becomes when all the 'perfectly' trained robots inevitably fail.

  • For starters,the private equity thing and letting most of the staff go due to AI was simply a mistake, something the manager didn’t assess well, and then paid the consequences for it afterwards. Well, let’s just put it out there, he didn’t exactly pay, he started doing all kinds of things precisely TO AVOID paying.lol.

    The entire situation is just dystopian. Imagine flying all the way from another continent just to talk to an anthropomorphic figure displayed on a screen. The manager probably knows that desperately calling his ex-employees to go back to how things were and push the blame onto them is not an excellent measure; likely, it was the last resort. I can’t even fathom what the other options he tried were.

Of course david can and should retaliate, and it will probably go well given he is on the right side of this issue, and there is no question about it.

    It’s always rewarding when somebody comes back with its tail between its legs. Now, David can sit back and relax while he watches his former employer succumb to madness. I do hope he has another job by now and doesn’t need him.

  • What we can take away from this story is that now we have to worry not only about AI taking our jobs but also about them making mistakes that we’ll be blamed for! Simply amazing. I hope we can evolve and learn from all these situations and make better professional decisions from now on.
