  • How to properly grieve a lost best friend

My best friend is still alive... it's just, he's finally admitted he's been treating me differently such as distancing himself, no longer initiating things, leaving all the effort of a relationship on my shoulders.
  • But he couldn't even give me a reason why... he said he didn't know why and needed time to figure it out. It's been a week since that conversation, but my heart aches. I sent a whole message about working things out together, it's
  • gone unanswered. He supported me at work one day (silently) and I thanked him. Still no answer. He even told me I've been nothing but perfect and don't deserve this treatment.
  • That my best friend is doing this to me without giving me any response, has put me in a painful limbo. So I've been grieving the friendship we once had... treating it like it's over... trying to move on.
  • No one prepared me for how hard it is. Today is the first day I stopped checking his online activity and socials (which he HAS been active on despite the silence).

  • I'm well aware of all the 'stop caring for someone that's not giving back, let go of what doesn't serve you' but how do I cope with losing my best friend? The empty space they used to fill... I've filled with
  • other friends, hobbies, just having time to myself. All of it feels muted and I end up crying.
  • It feels like a heartbreak and I have no idea how to handle it.
