a boss scolding his employee for only getting half of her work done for the quarter, despite the fact that she was out of the office for half of the quarter.

I was gone for half the quarter, and my boss got mad at me for doing half the ticket points for the quarter.

During Q2 (April-June) I was gone for 7 weeks; 2 weeks were planned PTO time (family weddings) then 5 weeks were sick leave due to sudden preg incy complications. I just had my quarter review and my

boss compared my ticket completion to the others on the team. I've completed half the ticket points as our top engineer. She roasted me for this, I did point out to her that I was gone for half the quarter,
she doesn't care. I know they'd love to manage me out because ever since I got preg nt my output has been less (the nausea has been killing me) but of course they're scared about formally
disciplining a preg nt woman so instead they just verbally berate me. Going to look for a different job once mat leave is over

fucuasshole2 Should write/record it down for when they inevitably fire you
VulcanHumour OP Ah yeah I've already done the classic emailing her after the meeting to go over exactly what we discussed, and made sure to mention that again I was out for half the quarter, as well as many other bulls shenanigans that have been going on
StolenWishes And you BCCed your personal email?
VulcanHumour OP Oh yeah
R-Dragon_Thunderzord You're doing it right so far Arguably if you want to try getting your boss sacked the other thing to do here is begin bringing your concerns to HR that "I think I may be the target of family discrimination” which is a huuuuge liability for a company, most sane ones would sooner nuke the manager than deal with that lawsuit
TheOne TrueTrench This is the thing to remember. HR is there to protect the company. They are not your ally, but they aren't your boss's ally either. If you can turn HR against your boss, awesome.
VayaFox Sounds like it needs to be reframed as "my completion rate was x tickets per hour/day" instead of looking at overall number of tickets for the period.
_golf Exactly, the manager should calculate throughput, not total output. Assuming this time off was approved
bemvee Oh girl, document everything from the time you told them you were preg nt. Get it in writing - recap that meeting and any others you might have via email unless it was recorded, in which case snag that recording. It very much sounds like they're gearing up to fire you and pretend like it's a performance issue when it's actually because you're preg nt.
Even in an at-will state, there may still be recourse but only if you document everything. It honestly wouldn't hurt to try out a free consult with an employment lawyer to get their input on what would help prove preg incy discrimination.
