Found out my best friend's wedding happened through Instagram, and I'm not sure how to move forward.

Two weeks ago I deactivated my Instagram account for this reason. I mainly don’t want to know things about people who aren’t in my life; I think it became toxic. I think the brain can’t really tell whether someone one sees through the web all the time is really in our lives or not; I think seeing them through the app has the same impact as seeing them in real life, and that generates a lot of parasocial, weird relationships that do no good. Whether you know it or not, you receive massive amounts of information, hidden propaganda, and a long list of etcéteras that influence your desires and your everyday life. I know this is not new, but I hadn’t experienced it with my body until I went through this.

As one commenter says, sometimes, through things like this, we realize somebody can be super important to us, but we are not as important to them. It hurts, but to know it’s to be free.
