While we have gotten far too used to the emotional rollercoaster rides that most kitten rescues involve, this story we have lined up for you today is quite the sweet and simple antidote. A tale of an abandoned kitten who needn't have walked more than a few small steps to be saved from a life on the streets.

Now, we would like to start by saying that the reaction, understanding and knowledge of the young cat lover from the story below who saved this kitten is astounding. Kids her age very rarely know so much about cats, let alone the rescue of kittens, but she used her know-how to make some super critical decisions that without a doubt saved the 3 week old's life. Decisions that hoomans far older and far more knowledgeable than her would have found hard to make and that could have cost the kitten its life instead. Perhaps that is the great gift of youth, the ability to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.

It all began when our rescuer's dog was going nuts, barking and whining at the front door. Trying to alert her young pawrent that there was something afoot outside. From there things escalated quickly as she found the 3 week old kitten alone on the side walk helpless. Knowing that it was not her place to immediately take the kitten home, she stepped back inside to wait and see if momma came back for her baby. But when rain clouds started to move in and water began pouring from the sky, our young rescuer had one heck of a decision to make.

Well, this is certainly an interesting one. The rescuer sure did know about the dos and don’ts of saving kittens but had to go ahead and make an executive decision to save the poor kitten before the incoming storm grew too dangerous for it. After all, if there is one thing that rarely mixes well in this world it is cats and water. So you can imagine that a tiny defenseless kitten in a rain storm would likely not fare all too well. So by the looks of it this cat loving hooman really did the right thing and saved this kitten from a fate far worse than losing its mother.

Honestly, it is so wonderful to see such stories where things go just about as smooth as you can hope for. There is often a misconception that any animal you find should first of all go to a shelter. But the truth is that they are often overrun and underfunded and if you have the ability to care for the animal yourself, at least until owners are found or you adopt them, then you are doing the animal a great service. Giving them comfort, stability and safety that they will not enjoy otherwise. We are so delighted for Yuyi and her new start in life. She may have lot her mother and siblings but she has gained a family who will accompany her long into the future.
