Sister lets her sister use her room when she is not home, but now when she comes back, everything is a mess, clothes are everywhere, so she wants to make her stop: 'Yesterday I told her she needs to stop going into my room when I'm gone.'

  • Am I wrong for refusing to let my sister use my bedroom

My sister is staying with us for a few weeks while she looks for a new place. She has her own room but keeps asking to use my bedroom when I'm not home because she likes the bigger mirror and says my room gets better light. At first I didnt care but lately I've come home and found my clothes moved around, my drawers open and stuff on my desk being used without asking.

  • Yesterday I told her she needs to stop going into my room when I'm gone. She got really offended and said we're family and I'm acting like she stole something. My mom also thinks I'm being dramatic because she's only using the room for a few minutes at a time. I told them it has nothing to do with how long she's in there. It's my private space and I want to

  • cottonmercer666 NTA. I never understood siblings who use the excuse, "We're sisters!" When they want to invade someone's privacy. Its your room, and your property. You have every right to keep it secure and out of the hands of other people.

  • Significant_Break316 NTA. Put a lock on your door. Tell sister she can move in with your mom since they are more compatible in violating personal space

  • Acrobatic-Clock-8277 No. She and your mom are both wrong. Your room, your private space. She has her own.

  • TheDarkHelmet1985 Tell them if you are really selfish, sister can find her own place to stay and can leave. The level of entitlement here is insane to me.

  • EDJardin NTA, go into her room wjen she's not there and move everything around, preferably with very sticky fingers. When she complains, just say you were only in there for a few minutes.

  • MermaidVibes04 Your room, your decision. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for wanting your space and not having people go through your things. Your mom can volunteer her room to her if it's such an issue...

  • BeautifulChaosEnergy Tell your sister to start using mom's room since it's clearly not the big of deal Tell your mom that you're disappointed in her for being ok with sister violating your privacy and that she should be ashamed of herself for raising such a disrespectful daughter

  • Emotional_Fan_7011 NTA. Lock your door. Or set up a hidden camera to see what she is doing in your room.
