In honor of it being Friday, we're bringing it back to 2011's most catchy pop song. If the song isn't stuck in your head quite yet...don't worry, it will be!
"Friday" by Rebecca Black graced us with countless memes and internet jokes that we can still all laugh about to this day - after all, the song was clearly a lyrical masterpiece of its time. And just in case you need a refresher of the song, we've got you covered. In fact, if this song hasn't gotten stuck in your head every Friday for the past seven years, then what are you even doing with your life?
There were so many cultural gems in this video, but we can't forget about the awkward dancing girl in pink. Who is she? Why does her facial expression exude such pain and sorrow? As it turns out, her name is Benni Cinkle, and she received a whole bunch of online threats and abuse after "Friday" was released.
BUT, Benni hasn't let that get to her too much. Here she is today at age 20, holding an adorable cat. She's even a singer herself!
Perhaps most notably, Benni has donated much of her time and effort toward her charity, That Girl in Pink, which aims to end teenage suicide. After "Friday" was released, she realized that she had the opportunity to use her platform for good after receiving countless messages from kids all over the world asking her for advice. Since then, Benni has raised money for earthquake relief, donated profits from her music to charity and given presentations in schools across the United States on anti-bullying. Pretty impressive for a girl who had five minutes of fame for dancing awkwardly!
