Disney Adult Rescues Senior Feral Cat from the Streets, Shares the Beautiful Process of Gaining His Trust

Self-proclaimed crazy cat lady/Disney adult Maria Torres shares how she rescues cats on her TikTok. The woman has saved tons of kittens, cats, and senior four-legged friends from the streets. It's not an easy thing to do—it takes a lot of volunteered time and money. Especially, when you're rescuing senior cats, since they have lived on the streets longer and are most likely feral. It's not impossible to rehabilitate a feral cat. The cat might start off constantly hissing and swatting at you, but as long as they're showing progress by eating and hopefully leaving the trap, then there is hope. Torres recently saved a 15-year-old cat who spent his entire life on the street. When she brought him home he was very feral. She had to work hard to even get him to leave the trap. She named the little old man Van Gogh, due to his missing ear (which probably started off as a marker to show he was fixed, but then maybe lots a few more notches from living on the streets).

Meet Van Gogh

Though Van started off very feral, giving up was simply not an option for Torres. She worked with him every single day and eventually she started to get little moments where he would allow her to pet him. In fact, she shares one moment where at first he is hissing at her, but then she gently starts to give him head scratchies with a small plastic fork and you can see the realization in his face that he is safe. You can very obviously see in his eyes that he goes from absolutely terrified to feeling comfortable.

It was a beautiful moment captured and showed a lot of promise for Van. Torres' viewers become absolutely obsessed with rescuing van. The pour guy needs a lot of medical attention, especially in the dental department. He definitely needs at least two teeth removed, but most likely an entire extraction; he also is FIV positive; and when they found him he was covered in fleas, had a fungal infection and ear infection. Thankfully, his fans on TikTok are helping him by donating to Torres for his expenses.

Finally Accepts a Tiny Bit of Love

He still has a very long way to go. Viewers are keeping tabs on the updates of the little guy and they can't wait to see the day that he is fully physically recovered, but most importantly, emotionally recovered. “I'm really surprised for as long as he was out on the streets, he is coming along beautifully,” Torres says in an update video. Being able to see this beautiful transformation with Van is extremely inspiring and helps the world have a little bit more faith in humanity. Everyone is rooting for Van!
