Text - Here is how it happened to me: 1. During the weekly meeting with all the executive staff, my boss magically discovered that all the data I worked with had been erased from our system, even though 30min earlier, before the meeting, everything was fine. 2. My first action was to retrieve the data or redo one complete week of work in only two days to complete what was missing, during that time, my boss gave me tons of useless tasks, which wasn't making my job easier.

Text - 3. After finally recovering the data I investigated how the data could have been erased in the first place. My boss accused me, but for me to do that, It would have taken very specific tasks in a certain order and a lot of time (a complete day minimum.) So I had to go to the bottom of this. At that time, I had suspicion I was getting framed, but I still had doubts and no proof. 4. With help of the IT I finally managed to find out that someone who wasn't able to access the data did, and co

By the time I went back to my office, all traces that that person had access to the data had disappeared... And that was the end of this issue. In record time I had managed to restore the data, and I learnt a valuable lesson, print screen is really, really important. From there I always did use print screen when I found something suspicious and I regularly asked IT for logs that I arch

Text - 2. I told her it wasn't a good idea but she wouldn't hear any of it, so I reported to the factory director (her boss) who told me I had to do it anyway, apparently it was common practice, and anyway, she was my boss so I had to do what she asked me. 3. Having learnt my lesson, I asked IT to give me a complete log of the data before I erased it. This way, it would take me less than an hour to restore the data if (I mean when) I would have to restore it.

Text - 4. No surprise, after the Week-end, It came to me to complain about the fact that erasing the data was a very bad idea and could mess with all the company back order. To which I redirected them to my boss and the director, after all, they were my bosses and I only did what they asked me. 5. Strangely, at first, my boss didn't understand how serious the situation was, so she simply dismissed the IT guy 6. The next day, I noticed that a very important order for a client was now ruined by th

I simply informed her that I had followed her orders, that I had proof she gave me the orders and if she really wanted me we just had to wait for the director to arrive and bring the matter to him. And then I went to my to be fired for office.

Text - 8. Not long after that, she barged in once gain saying I had nothing against her to defend myself, that I was in big trouble, yada yada. I simply showed her the print screens, I showed her the logs saying that if thing went to the worst I would be able to restore the data in no time anyway, so she could go on and try to get me fired. She screamed so loud that everyone heard her in the 4 story building.

Text - 9. In the end, when the director arrived, she did report that I had messed up with the data and we would lose some orders, and she told him I had threatened her. 10. The director summoned me and the meeting was very brief. He told it was unacceptable that I would threaten my boss (which I didn't, I shared the office with 3 other people and they could testify.) and that I was putting the company in a very bad situation (by erasing the data) I simply explained I had came to him to explain t

Text - 11. He told me I was the only one responsible for my actions and asked me if I wanted to stay in the company or not. I had been in the company for one year now, I had the position for two months and I was still waiting for my new contract, my raise, my new official status, and that if I had to deal with my boss and his behavior I had nothing keeping me in the company So he asked me to give him a resignation letter before the end of the day. Which I didn't, I was only three weeks from the

Text - 12. I left three weeks later with a big fat bonus, my boss ended in disciplinary, and the company went bankrupt 5 months later. (if I had stayed, I would have left with only my clothes on my back.) Well, maybe I'm paranoid and I was grossly incompetent, but somehow it feels like I was being setup for failure (by the way when I got the job, the director was already looking for someone to replace me.)
