The Home Depot sells a lot of useful products for your home and garden. Dads love it, DIYers praise it, Republicans support it. One thing that isn't normally found on the shelves at The Home Depot is a live rat.
TikToker @alim0ny recently posted a video of him and his wife at Home Depot that has gone viral. The couple had apparently just moved back to California and need to make a run to The Home Depot to get a few things. While there the husband spotted something in the plant trees for sale that seemed off. At first he thought it might be fake, but once that didn't make sense in his head he realized what he was actually staring at. A very real large rat was balled up in one of the trees.
People who often go to places that sell lumber are actually pretty familiar with seeing mice, rats, and other small vermin running around the store because these little critters like to munch on the wood. However, it's not as normal to see one of these guys camped out on the top of a small house plant tree. Though in the video you can only see one rat, the TikToker says there were multiple rats running around. This one was just the most jarring to see because it was at the top of a tree like the star on a Christmas tree.
Rats are highly intelligent creates and many actually find them to be hella cute. The TikToker says his wife wanted to try and catch the rat and help it—that it kind of appeared to maybe be a pet rat that someone has either lost or let loss. The TikToker, however, did not want to approach the guy in case it was a real street rat, which can be dangerous to try and touch.
Many rat experts flood the comments pointing out that the little guy looks like he has an upper respiratory infection and one person even says she thinks those specific trees are actually poisonous to rats. The TikToker agrees that it looks more like a pet rat than a street rat, but he is no expert and didn't want to take a chance. The two video ends without letting the viewers know what happened to the rat.
