TikToker Goes Viral for Encouraging Everyone to Lie to Their Doctors When Seeking Medical Attention, Sparks Debate

TikToker @geodendrochromosaur recently got the diagnosis she had been waiting for. She had been having terrible abdominal pain for a very long period of time and had no idea what was wrong with her. When she would go to her doctors they pushed off all her suspicions of what she thought it was and refused to even test her for what she felt like she had. It's already a slap in the face when your doctor assures you they know your body better than you, but it's even worse when what they do is simply gaslight you and you have to continue living in pain.

This TikToker had had it and needed answers. So, instead of doing what she usually would do, which would be to go to the doctor and explain her symptoms and then they would tell her what's wrong, which they usually said was nothing. She went in saying she had another doctor suggest that she should be tested for x, y, and z. And guess what? They finally took her seriously, with no questions asked and proceeded with the testing. She was correct and finally got the diagnosis she was waiting for. There was never another doctor, just a woman suffering and doing the research for herself to figure out possible reasons why she was in so much pain and then coming to the doctor with these findings.

“Lie to your Doctors”

Since the success of her medical lie, she posted a video about it that has since gone viral. In the video she is encouraging everyone to lie to their doctors because our medical system is extremely flawed. Medical insurers don't work for the patient's health, they work for their money. And Medical professionals are taught to stick to the books, so even if the patient is saying they feel it in their body that they have x,y, or z, if it doesn't match up with what the books say, then that patient is simply wrong and must be doing it for attention or are drug seeking.

The video attracted quite the debate in the comments. Most of the viewers completely agree with her and have their own stories similar to hers. Even other medical professionals are sharing stories of when they got medically gaslit about their own diagnosis and they too had to lie to their doctor. Thousands and thousand of stories of people saying they had to exaggerate their symptoms or make up a fake alternative doctor that suggested blank. Each story ended with the person finally getting the medical attention they were desperately seeking—which is unfortunate because it's just another example showing how messed up our medical system is. But also fortunate because the person suffering finally got the help they needed.

The TikToker has since posted multiple videos responding to the roaring debate on her topic happening in the comments.

“Other Lies to Tell Your Doctor”

However, it's not just people relating to the TikToker's story that are filling up the comment section. There are also people very much against this suggestion. There are some dangerous to this kind of advice for everyone involved—and of course, there will be people who choose to abuse this kind of advice. On emergency doctor commented saying he would never gaslight any of his patients and that it is very dangerous to lie to your doctors.

The TikToker is quick to respond, creating an entire video around his comment. She basically says that this is a very common response to views like this. The viewer is saying it's “not all medical professionals," but the TikToker is saying, until all of his constituents are taking the patients seriously, then we all, unfortunately, have to go into the situation thinking the worse.

The debate still roars on in the comments and the TikToker still posts about it. But the viewers who come to her videos to relate and agree with her point are definitely out weighing those against her.
