Young Walmart Employee Posts TikTok of a Crazy Karen Customer, Sparks Debate On if She Was in the Right or Should Get Fired

Earlier this month Walmart employee Rachel Timsina aka TikToker @rachelt369 posted a video she secretly took while a customer pulled a Karen on her. The video only shows the face of the employee, but you can hear the Karen yelling at Timsina in the background. The video went extremely viral, with 4 million views—with most of the viewers congratulating her for keeping her calm and dealing with such a horrible situation like that without “throwing hands.”

Crazy Karen Customer at Walmart

In the video, the Karen customer had approached Timsina to take some items from a high place down for her. She asked her to take that “shit” down, which Timsina already saw as a red flag. She told the Karen that she isn't able to do that herself and she would have to get a manager. However, there is only one manager and he was on lunch, so she could try to call customer service in the back. But customer service is always so busy, that they don't usually answer the phone, so it would probably be best if the customer went to the customer service office herself to ask them. The Karen thought it was disgusting that she should be told to go anywhere and started yelling at Timsina and calling her a lazy ass.

Timsina, instead of going straight to arguing, called the customer service office even though she said it would be no use, and of course they didn't answer. So the Karen said she'd go there herself. When she came back she was with a manager and already yelling at Timsina saying how dare she say she couldn't get on the phone to call the customer service office; how dare she make her walk to the back of the store to get the appropriate help.

Walmart Story Time

In the video the Karen keeps being offended by Timsina's “smirk,” which yeah, you can see she is smirking. But it's obviously because of the whole absurdity of the situation. The Karen kept calling her lazy and saying she wasn't doing her job and that she should be fired, etc. etc. You can kind of hear the manager in the background trying to deescalate the Karen, but as most of us know, there is no way to calm a crazy Karen down. Timsina is arguing back and forth with the Karen, but she is simply standing up for herself in the most professional way she can. She never calls the Karen by an inappropriate name, she never starts lashing out at the customer, she ends up just standing there smirking trying to hold all her anger in. Pretty diplomatic, if you ask me and many TikTok viewers of the video.

Managers Find the Video

However, managers eventually find out that Timsina posted the video and this is where things start to get sticky. The manager reached out to a co-worker of Timsina and asked her about the video. Timsina is denying that she posted the video to social media, even though she did.

Viewers are going back and forth in the comment section on whether or not this is an actual fireable offense. Many say it's Walmart and they're a horrible company who will find any reason to fire you. Others say that it wasn't the way the Karen situation went down that makes this a fireable offense, but the fact that she posted it to social media might be. Others are saying that Walmart would be even more f'ed up than they actually are if they fire this TikToker and in fact, they should give her a promotion for dealing with it so calmly.

The matter has not been resolved, even though the TikToker has posted several updates on the situation. Viewers are still wondering, though, if she was fired or not.
