    Get Around the Airport

LaGuardia Airport has 4 terminals that can be accessed with the complimentary airport shuttle. It operates 24 hours a day and there are three routes: the Red, Purple and Blue routes. See LaGuardia Airport's map of the bus routes. The buses arrive every 8-10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours. Each bus serves different terminals and parking areas. This is explained below:

Purple Route: terminals B, C and D, Daily Parking in terminals C and D.

Red Route: terminals A, C and D, Daily Parking.

Blue Route: terminals A and B, Daily Parking in terminal A and the B Wait Area.

LaGuardia Airport has a route planner for the airport shuttles available on its website.

    Bus, Subway and Train

a blue and white bus with MTA Bus written on the front parks on a street with city buildings behind it

There is no direct train connection with LaGuardia Airport, so the best public transport option is to take a bus and then transfer to the subway, Long Island Railroad or Metro-North Railroad. This is also the cheapest way to get out of LaGuardia Airport.

There are 5 airport transfer bus lines at LaGuardia Airport: M60 SBS, Q70 SBS LaGuardia Link (which both operate 24 hours a day and have to be paid for before boarding the bus with Metrocard or a paper ticket), Q47, Q72, and Q48. Each of these lines connects with subway or train lines. See LaGuardia Airport's public transportation page for details of which subway and train lines connect to the buses.

The buses do not stop at all terminals in the airport. The M60 stops at terminals A, B, C and D, the Q70, Q72 and Q48 stop at terminals B, C and D, and the Q47 stops at terminal A. Passengers can search for these bus timetables on the MTA website

Bus, subway and train fares are $2.75 and must be paid with a MetroCard or with the exact amount of money (change is not possible). Transfers from the bus to the subway are free. Buses stop outside the arrivals area in every terminal, except in Terminal A, where buses pick up passengers from the departures area. See a map of LaGuardia Airport on its website. Passengers should keep in mind that if using this option, they may have to carry their luggage up and down stairs at the subway and train stations.

The MTA Trip Planner is a useful tool for planning a trip, as well as Google Maps. The time it takes to get from LaGuardia to New York can vary considerably, depending on the traffic and timing of the subway and trains. Passengers should allow themselves two hours overall to get into the city.
