NASA's Latest Planned Conquest - A Close Up Of The Solar Poles

NASA is at it again. This time they are looking toward the Sun and examining regions of it that have not been seen up close up until now. But they're not alone either. NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have joined forces to potentially change our understanding of the Sun and how it affects Earth. The goal of the 7-year mission is to launch a satellite to orbit the Sun and take pictures of the Sun's poles for the first time in history.

A Joint NASA and ESA (European Space Agency) project is working to send a probe to the Sun to examine the northern and solar poles. The cover photo is of a digital rendering of the craft as it approaches the surface of the Sun

15 'Oppy' Memes That Celebrate The Life And Legacy Of The Beloved Mars Rover

We never thought a Mars rover could make us get a little teary-eyed, but here we are. It was announced that the well-loved robot Opportunity finally bit the dust on Wednesday after a remarkable almost-15-year run. The scrappy rover lost power during a dust storm last June, prompting NASA's decision to pull the plug on the entire mission. Interestingly, Oppy's twin Spirit passed away in a similar manner on the other side of the planet after a five-year run.

To aid the grief process, the internet has been meme-ing Opportunity, and we're here for it.

NASA 'dream fund' selects submarine for Saturn moon A robot submarine for exploring the methane oceans of Saturn's giant moon, Titan, a greenhouse on Mars and a spacecraft that hitches rides on comets to the outer solar system are just three of the far-out ideas NASA is backing in its latest round of funding for the distant future of space exploration.

Each year NASA's Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) programme asks researchers to submit ideas for space technology that could prove useful in the next few decades. Last year selections included two-dimensional spacecraft and suspended animation.
