It's mid-January; we're in the throes of winter, and the cold weather is brutal. It's safe to say that my bikini tan lines have hibernated until next summer, and I won't be taking my heated blanket off for the foreseeable future. If you're anything like me, you thrive in the heat and wilt in the cold, much like a flower. And you're probably reading this while bundled up, reminiscing about the days when you could sit outdoors with your friends, the hot sun beating down on your neck, and sipping on cold cocktails. Ugh, throwback. But while the hot weather might be a distant memory, it doesn't mean we can't enjoy these memes about how much we hate winter, the cold, and the lack of tan. These memes are for all you summer babies.
We know that summer is technically over. But it is never over in our hearts, and we miss hanging out at the beach so so much. So, we decided that we wanna feel the sun on our skin and the wind in our hair through some wholesome pictures of animals absolutely loving the beach.
It's not just the animals you expect enjoying the beach either. It's cats and kangaroos and elephants. Everyone loves the beach, and we love all of these animals. These pics are for anyone looking for some summery feels, and we hope they bring you at least a hint of the joy they brought us. And if summer is not your thing, here are some cats enjoying autumn.
With the summer ending, we have decided to celebrate the warmth one more time with a whole lotta kitties chilling in the sun. 'Sunshine babies' is what my friend likes to call them. Adorable little beings finding the warmest spot to soak up the relaxing energy of the sun. It doesn't matter where it is, whether on a pile of books on your desk, next to one of your windows, or if it's just one line of sun across your sheets, they'll find it, and they'll make the best of it.
They're the cuddliest when they're sunbathing. It's one of the best times to come to them and gently hug them and press our noses into their warm fur. And everyone loves cuddling calm kittens - adults, other cats, and even babies. So, let your heart warm by enjoying these gorgeous cats in the sunshine and have an incredible day!

The Santa Monica Mountains near Los Angeles is getting plenty of kitty attention this summer! According to the National Park Service, 13 kittens were born to 5 different mothers between May and August.
It's the biggest mountain lion baby boom to occur in the past 18 years within such a short timeframe! National Park Service such a short period of time for the past 18 years!
Jeff Sikich, a wildlife biologist, said in a previous statement, "This level of reproduction is a great thing to see, especially since half of our mountains burned almost two years ago during the Woolsey Fire."
When the story was shared on Twitter, a few users were wondering if this new kitten boom was in any way related to the pandemic and vanishing foot traffic. There's no way to know for sure but if so, we're glad to hear of another happy outcome from this year's madness.
Check out some of the insanely adorable kittens below!

Over the past few weeks cities all around the United States have been reporting an increase in fireworks. And it's quickly becoming clear that murmurs on Twitter aren't just hearsay or the result of quarantine-induced noise sensitivity. According to Gothamist, fireworks complaints in New York City have increased by a whopping 230% since last year. And Twitter users have begun theorizing that the increase may actually be due to something more sinister.
The most widely circulated theory right now is that the increase in fireworks leads back to the police, or even that the CIA is supplying fireworks to rowdy teens as a sort of psychological operation to deprive citizens of sleep and desensitize them to the sounds of warfare. One such thread comes from writer Robert Jones Jr., who tweets as Sons of Baldwin. Other conspiracy theories suggest that police are supplying and setting off fireworks and ignoring complaints to make themselves feel needed in the wake of calls to defund them. And there's been a lot of weird police activity that backs up this attitude - take this bizarre show from police vehicles in Harlem - at 3am.
While some of the tweets we've been seeing mock and meme the theories, they're being taken seriously enough to inspire inquiries from investigative journalists and have even led to a writer having to apologize for retweeting speculation on the matter. Many people seem to think the explanations are a simple combination of inexpensive surplus fireworks (due to Covid-19 cancellations) and, well, let's face it: fireworks are fun. And while the theories may seem far-fetched, they're a hell of a lot more entertaining than anything pertaining to 5G. So we're happy to watch the truth unfold - whatever it may be.
