Kittens' Father Refuses to Leave the Mama Cat Alone During Labor, Cleans & Comforts Her the Entire Time She Gives Birth

Having a family is not easy, everyone knows that. This doesn't just go for humans, in the animal world, becoming a parent is a difficult and usually dangerous job. But for animals, reproducing is an instinct, so it's not a common occurrence for the parents to stay together and raise a little family. Yes, there are lots of animals who do stay together, like wolves, lions, and crows—but domesticated animals like dogs and cats aren't usually in that group.

TikToker Joellyn has two cats that have always been in love with each other. A female cat named Sophia and a male cat named Chichi (they're not biologically related). They've always been inseparable and simply adorable with each other—constantly cuddling and following each other around. Before they were able to get them fixed, they found out that Sophie was pregnant. The father, obviously being Chichi since they are indoor cats and don't see other cats. They immediately got Chichi fixed after finding that news out and started to get ready to help Sophie give birth.

It turns out that the TikToker didn't have to help Sophie on her own, because papa Chichi immediately stepped up in his father role. During her pregnancy he was still just as sweet with Sophie and they still were always together. However, the surprising part of this experience, was Chichi's presence during labor and after. At first they tried to keep them separate, since usually when a cat is giving birth you want to give them as much space as possible while also monitoring them. But Sophie refused to leave Chichi's side and followed him around until she had him curled up with her. He was even there next to her, licking her head as the first two kittens started to make their way into the world.

Even after the birth of the kittens, Chichi the father cuddles with Sophie and his babies like one happy family. When Sophie takes a small break from breastfeeding and being a hands-on mama, Chichi will step in (always monitored by the humans) and clean the kittens very gently and keep them warm. It's so wholesome and heartwarming—they're a better family than many human ones!
