I would love another Splinter Cell game. Everyone would love another Splinter Cell game. But for some reason, Ubisoft refuses to give us one. Instead, we're getting an animated TV show. And look, it's not exactly what I want - but I'm going to watch it anyway.
Netflix just dropped the first teaser for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, and confirmed the series will premiere on October 14, 2025. The trailer is short but stylish: Sam Fisher in the rain, Sam Fisher in the shadows, and quick flashes of assassins, close-quarters combat, and gunfire. In other words, it looks like Splinter Cell - even if you're not the one holding the controller.
The show is co-produced by Ubisoft and Netflix and comes from Derek Kolstad, the creator of John Wick. That makes a lot of sense, because if there's anyone who knows how to mix shadows, assassins, and action, it's him.
Sam Fisher is voiced by Liev Schreiber, which is a big swing but also kind of perfect. Joining him is Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place, The Sandman) as Zinnia McKenna, a brand-new character created just for the series. According to the official description, Fisher and McKenna will be on the run while squads of trained killers close in.
This is the first real return for the franchise since Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013. That's twelve years without a game. TWELVE. YEARS. Ubisoft, if you're reading this, we will happily play a new Splinter Cell game. But for now, we'll take what we can get, and Deathwatch looks like it might at least deliver some stealthy nostalgia - animated or not.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Deathwatch premieres October 14, 2025, only on Netflix.
