Karen Asks Neighbor to Tone Down Their Fourth of July Firework Display For Her Dog’s Sake in a Florida Man Prank Video and it Sparks Debate in the Comments

There is one night a year where every neighbor you’ve never met can be a totally belligerent, pyrotechnic nut-case and get away with it. Happy 4th of July.

Curren Terrence, a proud American Florida man, created a spoof video this Fourth of July to not only show off his impressive haul of fireworks but to also make a point about his apparent freedom to make as much noise as he wants despite neighbors protests.

To make fun of the Karen’s in his neighborhood, Curren answers his door to his neighbor, a ‘Karen’ trying to beg the neighbors to tone down their fireworks display because her dog gets anxious. It seems like a reasonable and neighborly request until Curran remembers that her dog is the one barking until 12AM and waking the entire street up at 5AM with disruptive yowling.

All the while, Curran, of course, has $5k in firework paraphernalia stacked behind him. I guess courtesy goes both ways.

Happy Fourth of July Everyone

While most of us watch this video and imagine our own canine friends cowering under the bed, it’s easy to chalk it up to one night of debauchery where we can load up our pets with valium and happily conquer, however, there are others who have a more serious response.

One follower pointed out that firework displays can trigger PTSD response from veterans and ex-military personnel and that home-fireworks can take away the safe haven that some people rely on to avoid reliving traumatic experiences.

It would be easy enough for a person (or a reactive pet) to avoid firework shows in public places that are scheduled and predictable, however, it’s nearly impossible to foresee or escape from a close neighbor with thousands of dollars of pyrotechnics.

They may be ready to blow their own hand off, but because it’s just one night of craziness, does that also give them the right to trigger, terrorize, or worry their neighbors and comrades?

While Curran’s follow up videos spark even more debate, it seems that home fireworks are a touchy subject for a number of reasons, making everyone think twice about their Fourth of July festivities and traditions. Hopefully inspiring a compassionate, self-preserving, and anti-vandalism response.

Let's go Karen, time to send it

But who knows, after crushing a 24pack of Coors Lite, there may be only one reasonable response for the Florida-men of the world– blow some crap up.
