In New Miami, on Thursday, a church staffer came out of the church and found a suspicious-looking lack carrier bag outside of the building's front door. Fearing what may be inside, the staff called the authorities. Quickly, Daily Mail reports, "[m]embers of the Butler County Bomb Unit descended on the scene to inspect the 'suspicious package' but were left startled when they heard the sounds of purring coming from inside the bag."
That was definitely an unexpected ending to a situation that could have ended way differently - bag full of abandoned kittens and their momma with a note left inside, saying that the owners of those kittens and cat could no longer take care of them. Thankfully, they found themselves in good hands and are now being taken care of and getting prepared for adoption.

It's hard to decide how to react to this. Our first instinct is laughter, imagining the bomb squad running in and trying to disarm a bag full of kittens. The second is relief that this was indeed a bag of kittens rather than anything else. The third is a hint of sadness that these kittens and their mom were abandoned in the first place. And, of course, the last one is hope - that they were found and will be put into good homes where they will be loved and well taken care of.
"There was a momma cat and her six one-day-old babies in the bag," the Butler County Sheriff's Office revealed in a Facebook post shared Saturday. They continued and explained that the cat and kittens have been abandoned, adding that the owner had left a note with them. "Moms name is Sprinkles. She began giving birth at 2.00pm, Wed Feb 17th," the note reads.
The bomb squad took the kittens and the mom to the Animal Friends Humane Society in nearby Hamilton, where they were taken care of by the volunteers. Sprinkles was keeping an eye on her babies throughout the whole order, as any momma would, watching as the volunteers wrapped her kittens up in blankets.
"The kittens are now 'warm, cozy and fed' and will be adopted out to homes in the coming weeks." We consider this story one with a very happy ending, knowing that the mom and kittens are in good hands now and will be put into loving forever homes hopefully never to be abandoned again. We hope these kitties will be adopted quickly, and we are thankful to all the people involved in helping them through this tough time.
