Andrew Yang Roasted For Picking Times Square As His Favorite Subway Station

The internet hasn't been kind to Andrew Yang of late. But it's really his own fault. The failed presidential candidate turned New York mayoral candidate has been gunning for the approval of the city's residents. It's normal for candidates to suck up to voters, but if you ask New Yorkers, most of them will say he's been doing it wrong.

His first New York-related offense? Calling a bougie Midtown deli a bodega. For those who aren't aware, a bodega is the city's version of a convenience/corner store. They're not shining delicatessens filled with matcha and gleaming glass. Most of them have boast cats, cheap beer and sandwiches, and are run by locals from Yemen, the Dominican Republic, or Puerto Rico.

He's also managed to receive scorn for giving away the family dog, being much, much worse at basketball than Adam Sandler,and alienating Muslim residents with some seriously short-sighted comments about the war in Israel. Today, however, the internet is up in arms over the third episode of Ziwe's satirical interview show on Showtime. In the episode, Ziwe chats with Yang about billionaires, race, politics, music - and his favorite New York City subway station. Unfortunately for Yang, he chose the station closest to his home: Times Square.

Anyone who knows anything about New Yorkers should know that many of us would rather die that find ourselves even blocks away from the tourist trap filled with wide-eyed out of towners, chain restaurants, and a serious lack of public restrooms. To natives or longtime residents, Yang's choice was more proof that he's out of touch with the city. And, as usual, New Yorkers on Twitter had a lot to say about the matter.
