It's never a good sign when an employer asks an employee—no—tells an employee that they need to participate in events outside of work hours to maintain good standing at work.
Redditor u/tee_ran_mee_sue took to the popular subreddit r/MaliciousCompliance to share this particular story, in which his boss insisted that everyone at the company attend monthly go-kart races. When the OP realized he had a conflict, their boss insisted that he attend, so he did, conveniently putting his years of competitive kart racing to the test and beating everyone — including the boss.
It sounds like the boss insisted everyone attend these go-kart races just so he could beat everyone and was livid when someone actually beat him, which is a hilariously poor display of sportsmanship. The boss definitely underestimated their new hire here. It sounds like after the malicious compliance was successfully executed. The employees got themselves off the hook for future mandatory kart race attendance.
