The process of commuting to work is only made worse by having to deal with unforeseen transportation obstacles that can arise at a moment's notice. Maybe the bus is running late, too late. Maybe the Lyft ride that should've pulled up to rapidly whisk you away to your office has seemingly committed itself to driving as far as possible in the wrong direction.
Perhaps you have had an experience like Reddit user u/MidnightBallad, who frequently dealt with a cab driver who could never be bothered to show up on time. The user took to r/TalesFromTheCustomer to share their poor experiences with Kevin, the cabbie in question. The original poster relied on this cab service to get to work, and Kevin frequently showed up late, never apologizing for adding unnecessary stress to OP's day. Kevin racked up a series of strikes at the cab company until his incompetence resulted in the original poster arriving to work 20 minutes late — at which point the kindly company owner stepped in and fired Kevin the cab driver from his taxi-driving gig. At least this initially frustrating tale has a happy ending. Three strikes? You're out, bud.
