Woman Chooses Cat Over BF, Asks Internet For Advice

Having a pet is not easy, and taking care of them isn't easy either, which is why pets can often affect relationships. For example, we published a story a while ago about a woman whose husband was pressuring her to get a pet, and she asked netizens on Reddit what they thought. But today we have a different kind of story, a story about a woman who started dating a guy after adopting an abandoned kitten, and whose boyfriend was… well, we won't spoil the entire story, but suffice to say that the boyfriend was not a fan of his girlfriend's relationship with her cat.

    Font - to him (his words). My cat "Crumb" (4M) is the most important aspect in my life right now. Like most cat parents, he rules the household. We are very close, since I found him abandoned on the side of the road (as a 3mo old kitten) and nursed him back to health.

    Awww, who would abandon a 3 month old kitty on the side of the road? What kind of awful person would do that? In any event, we're so happy that Crumb was adopted and has been living for a month now in his forever home with such a sweet hooman taking care of him. Such a sweet story!

    Font - Lately, Kyle has been complaining about Crumb. I guess he walked into my bathroom to see Crumb rubbing his face against my toothbrush (I have one of the electric ones that stands). He was shocked and told me how disgusting it was. I laughed and said "yeah that's not great." He

    Font - Next, Kyle says he doesn't like my nightly routine with Crumb. I give Crumb a kiss on the head, stomach and then face before he goes to sleep. He sleeps on my bedside table in a cat bed. If I don't do this routine, he lays on me until I do. I know that's annoying, but that's how it has always been and I love doing it.

    Font - told him that I put the toothbrush away, but he told me that I took it as a joke and didn't punish Crumb. I tried to explain that you can't punish cats (nor would I want to in this scenario), but he wouldn't hear it. He then went on to say that me kissing Crumb is disgusting, especially his face, and he wouldn't ever kiss me if I kissed Crumb again. He asked me to put Crumb outside the room when he is over, or lock him in a "crate."

    Font - TinyGloom NTA. I agree that letting Crumb rub up against your toothbrush is not exactly hygienic. For that one you may wanna replace the head of it. But everything else. is Kyles problem. I have an 8 month old kitten. She has decided we are soul mates. She doesn't like cat beds. She sleeps with me and my husband. To clarify though, the kitten sleeps on top of the bedcovers near where my feet are. Crumb lives with you, the boyfriend only visits. If anyone has to get in a crate it should be

    Font - Poppy-Persephone Same! Two weeks after I got my baby girl my doc informed me I was allergic to her and I need to get rid of her. Too late, already in love, next option.     Font - Sharkbait-o I wish mine slept in a cat bed, or by the foot of my bed. My cat sleeps either in between me and my husband, or right next to me, snuggled next to me like a teddy bear. I adopted him when he was 7; and he decided I was his human. I wouldn't dream of locking him in a crate, or shutting him out of any place in his home (though we do shut the bathroom door as Maggie likes drinking for the toilet). But never anything for his comfort!
