Yesterday, Reddit user U/HisMajesticDickens asked the AskReddit community: "What is one socially unacceptable fact about yourself?" The thread quickly went viral as thousands of people shared what habits/traits qualify them as being socially unacceptable. As a a society, we are always under pressure to do the right thing and act the right way. Social media has made it even harder to be your weird/quirky self because we are constantly afraid of being judged. These brutally honest facts range from picking noses uncontrollably to being an adult man who still plays with action figures. We all have our things. Why should we be embarrassed by habits? Everything is a social construct. Why should a man feel awkward about playing with dolls/action figures? It makes him happy and it harms no one. Losing childlike wonder is a sad part of growing up. Hold onto it as long as you can. Sure picking noses can be gross to watch, so just do it in the privacy of your own home. Sweaty hands can feel like a debilitating thing. Shaking hands as a sign of respect is a very outdated ritual. People judge you on the strength of the shake and the dryness of the palm. We should really make the elbow bump a required greeting from now on.

Talking to people feels terrifying if you are shy. Social anxiety cripples many. It's hard to read a room or even one person directly across from you. If you get too much into your head trying to figure out what's in another's persons head, you can get stuck in a downward spiral. We truly feel for people who feel awkward talking. They say 'fake it until you make it.' We firmly believe in this in some scenarios. Like when you have a BS paper to write. But we think that mantra can only get you so far in life.
