Buying things online always involves an element of risk. This is doubly true when picking up second hand goods, and triply true when it involves electronics. If you're looking for something as coveted as a brand new PS5? You may as well accept that you're going to run into some problems at some point in the journey.
That being said, it can be hard to predict just how wrong things might go. There are plenty of people out there ready to take your money and run without so much as batting an eyelid, but it's rare that the whole thing ends in a police standoff.
Unfortunately, this was what happened to @theotherbrand, who went through an excruciating experience after trying to buy a PS5 on OfferUp. In a confusing video uploaded to TikTok, she revealed how after him and his girlfriend had tried to purchase a console, and then were nearly hit with the full force of the law.
As it turned out, the seller had bought the console and reported it as stolen before selling it on, meaning it was now unusable for the recipient. After she refused to refund the purchase, the couple tried to set up a meeting to confront her — and she called the police, claiming that she had been attacked.
Viewers were baffled by the entire situation, although some suggested that it didn't come as a surprise. If anything can be taken away from this, it's that the market for a PS5 remains a cutthroat as ever.
