Maybe it's about time we stopped asking kids, "what do you want to be when you grow up?". While many of them will answer things like astronaut, singer, or gratingly annoying YouTube personality, the reality is that many will end up in some kind of uninspiring 9 to 5 like the rest of us.
Aside from a lucky few, most of us don't do the things that we thought we'd end up doing for work when we were kids. Even if we do wind up in our dream jobs, they often don't turn out to be everything that they were cracked up to be.
This might not be an enjoyable realization, but at least we can comfort ourselves through the power of humor. Memes share in our pain about the daily grind, and they lighten the load a little, too. At least the next generation of workers will have that to look forward to.
Hey, at least we turned up.
They made their bed, and now they've got to lie in it.
The ceiling's the limit.
Beginning to think the issue isn't the form of communication, but the fact that it's happening at all.
I am SO productive, all the time.
Yes…shift that blame.
Almost there.
That's one way to game the job market.
It really does feel like that.
Good for them, I guess?
Dream job.
It's a solid proposal.
Nobody's gonna know.
It's a fine art.
Just stop talking now.
God bless these martyred souls.
Work is pain.
Don't make me say it again.
It's a living.
Please.
