During the spring, the car-themed kittens arrived at the Richmond Animal Care & Control (RACC) with their mother, Tesla, when they were found as strays. Raising baby kittens and ensuring their mother's health is better facilitated in a foster home rather than in an animal shelter environment.

"Fostering saves lives, and it's a vital component of our operation," said RACC Communications Director Robin Young. "Many shelters are in need of foster homes to care for neonatal kittens and moms and litters until they are old enough for adoption."

Currently, Chevy and Porsche are in excellent health. Robin spoke to the care of their "awesome" foster home that made sure mother Tesla and her two babies were loved, even if temporarily, and had the opportunity to grow and bond with each other.

The amiable duo just recently reached the age where they can reside with RACC; the next step in finding them a forever home. Since Chevy and Porsche are a bonded pair, they must be adopted together.
"When possible, we like to keep siblings together in pairs," Robin explained. "Kittens do better in pairs and have each other to play with."

Luckily, their snuggly faces were scooped up quickly to a family that will continue to socialize them and give them all the love and attention they need. The space that Chevy and Porsche vacated in the shelter will now be filled with more kitties looking to find forever homes.

Your local animal shelter or adoption center may offer BOGO adoption fees for animal pairs like RACC does. Not only does adopting a cat give you a feline friend, but it means local shelters have more space so they can help animals in need.
