    Such A Good Aunt!

Font - I was watching my 6yo niece while my sister took her baby to the doctor. We were talking about how her dad's birthday is coming up. Niece said she wanted to make him a cake. I said that was a brilliant idea and gave her my tablet to look up a recipe. my little She picked one and then started gathering ingredients in my kitchen with stepstool. When I went to help her crack eggs she said "No. I'm making daddy's cake all by myself." So I stepped back and just supervised for safety. We put th

Like we said before, this aunt sounds amazing with the way she's letting her niece be her own person! Most kids can't even muster up the courage to get into the kitchen (come to think of it, that lasts all the way through college for some people), but this little girl is taking charge! Still, maybe this family needs to think about getting her some lessons.

    Or Is She?

Font - When sister arrived to pick up her daughter and the cake, she was thrilled. We both told her she's going to be a star baker one day, and niece was beaming. I was talking on the phone with my sister about the party tomorrow, and she mentioned how it's incredible her daughter's first attempt at baking turned out perfect. I laughed and told her the truth, knowing that my sister would keep the secret from my niece or anyone who could tell her, because she's the mom. I figured she would think

Aside from the fact that giving dogs too much sugar over their lifetime can cause health problems down the line, we can't possibly see what OP could have done wrong here. She tried to protect her niece's feelings, she told her sister a funny story, and she still made sure that her brother-in-law got a great birthday cake!

    You Can Say That Again

Font - trialtestofreddit. 5 days ago NTA but your sister is a bit of an idiot if she thinks that her 6 year old can make a perfect cake on her first attempt! I think her anger at you is due to her disappointment that she doesn't have a prodigy child. I would just keep my distance until she apologises. For the future, just bear your sister's reasoning ability in mind... 1.8k Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

Gullible Is Written On The Ceiling

Font - o ur-squirrel-buddy. 5 days ago [5] Asshole Enthusiast Can 6 year olds even read recipes?! How gullible is her mom? Like how can she be shocked her 6 year old couldn't bake an edible cake on her first attempt with no direction or help from an adult Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 474

    Not The Rice!

Font - 28 taylorcovet 4 days ago My favorite story from my childhood is when I tried to make my parents stuffed peppers for their anniversary dinner one year. The recipe said however many cups of rice (didn't clarify cooked rice). You can see where this is heading. 9 year old me was so certain I could do it all by myself that I refused to listen to suggestions from my mom. I just knew the rice would cook in the oven with everything else! That's the year my parents had to choke down uncooked rice

    Totally Harmless

Font - katnerys 5 days ago Partassipant [1] NTA for swapping out the cakes. It's a totally harmless thing that will make for a funny story in the future. Don't know how good it is for the dog to eat a whole cake, but no, at the end of the day, its not a big deal. Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 4.1k

    Seriously, This Sister Is Sus

Font - Sidneyreb 5 days ago Partassipant [1] If I was your sister... I'd be awestruck at what an amazing Aunt my child has. I'm not but I still believe that you are awesome and not just for the fact you had all the ingredients, at hand, to make not one but two cakes from scratch. This Was A Good Save!

Font - ro lisvs 5 days ago NTA - this could of been a secret between you & your sister. She is being overly dramatic. I personally would of APPRECIATE the fact that you let my daughter make a cake on her own & you yourself realized it wasn't edible so you made one that was. (You even had her decorate it) So now we can all actually enjoy eating the cake while the face on that little girl will glow! Imagine nobody ate the cake that she actually made? The little girl would b upset & probably never

    Hopefully She'll Learn Soon

Our Favorite Comment Of The Bunch

Font - FishforMe 5 days ago Dad here. We've done this to my kid in the past. Actually I think he was 4-5 when we pulled this trick, told him he was an amazing baker, etc. It worked like a charm. He's nearly 8 now and the act encouraged him to work really hard on his baking skills. He asked for sets on his birthdays, browses the cookbook section when we go to the book store, and has a little collection of tools and books and kitchen wear that is all his. Now his cakes DO taste good. And he moved
