Apparently, Some Cats Have An Unexpectedly Weird Obsession With Dishwashers (Twitter Thread)

Cats are weird little creatures, we already know that. They like weird things, they have weird habits, they stare at nothing for hours on end sometimes. We've seen pretty much everything at this point. We've seen the obvious obsessions that most cats have: cats and their eternal obsession with boxes and cats with their toilet paper obsession. To the less obvious things that our cats enjoy: like the cats who have a totally weird bread addiction and cats who will stop at nothing to get sweets. And then, we have the extra special kitties: like the cat who went viral for his obsession with empty cinnamon bottles, and that other cat who became obsessed with one wall in the house and ended up saving its human's life because of that.

We thought that we had seen it all, and yet - somehow - cat twitter managed to surprise us all over again. Dishwashers. Apparently, some cats have an unexpectedly weird obsession with dishwashers. And yup, as you guessed it, we have as much idea about why cats like dishwashers as much as we do about why cats like sinks so heckin' much.

Is it because the dishwasher is warm post-washing?! Is that why they like it do much? The dishes look clean in this one! We know that they like sinks because 1- they fit purrfectly and 2- they're cool in the summer. We know they like laptops because they're the opposite - they're warm and fun to sit on. But dishwashers? Is it the heat?! We demand an explanation.

And oh my goodness, they must be impossible to get out of there. But regardless - is it not the heat? Is it the fact that the dishwasher is box-shaped? Is the metal box calling out to our kitties the same way that cardboard boxes do? Is that it? Goodness, we wish we knew what was going on through their itty bitty brains.
