AITA for forcing a vegetarian meal even though we're not eating?

Font - r/AmltheAsshole u/Forced Vegetarian - 3 AITA for forcing a vegetarian meal even though we're not eating? A peer and I travel to universities across the nation to give talks and presentations, sometimes recorded. We pick the catering for our events even if we sometimes don't eat ourselves. It's mostly for production staff and event organizers. I'm vegetarian for ethical/realist reasons (consuming animals contributes to a lot of pollution is my reasoning). I suggested we switch to vegetaria

Font - The thing is, we eat at these luncheons maybe once every dozen or so occassions, so I am effectively imposing a diet on other people. I do it with good intentions, though, as well to alleviate some of my own guilt (as I said, I don't want to be the impetus for others eating meat if I can help it). Am I or are we the as sholes?

I might say N T A if this was an event you were hosting and the food was for attendees.... cause, well, they could choose not to attend or not to partake. But you say this is catering for the staff who are putting on the event for you. Presumably this is their lunch... so yes, it seems to be not just rude but also condescending to dictate to workers supporting you what they get for their lunch. "I do think OP is being the TA here, but there's actually way more people with milk protein allergy and lactose intolerance (me included) than people allergic to soy. In fact, vegetables that usually trigger allergies (wheat and other stuff with gluten, peanuts, etc) can be largely found in both vegan and non vegetarian food." -Victorian-Phantom

Product - fightingnflder . 3h Partassipant [1] YTA, how would you feel if the tables were turned and it was meat-eaters choosing a meat menu for vegans. This is forcing your eating choices on others. ... Reply 265 Itlyellowcloud. 18m Meat eaters don't eat only meat. You might not realise that sometimes your food is vegetarian or vegan. You wouldn't call eating oreos "forcing veganism" Vote

It's really easy to find caterers offering both vegetarian and meat options nowadays, and if someone was asking if they're TA for not offering vegetarian options the answer would be the same. Font - blackwalnut12404 • 3h YTA - Because, if I understand you correctly, you are dictating that every option in the meal is vegetarian/vegan by proxy of choosing vegetarian/vegan vendors. I would say NTA if you were mandating there were vegetarian options that's cool, but you're not. And truth is, you're probably creating a bunch of waste to try and make a point or imbue your beliefs upon others, because all that food you're ordering isn't getting eaten. To pretend it is, is to be naive, and t

Where are your fruits and veggies coming from. How far is the distance? Are your meats coming from local farms? How much are the farm workers getting paid for their labors?
