It is officially October, which means celebrating the Halloween season is now completely socially acceptable. During the first few weeks of Spooktober, before Halloween events really start revving up, I like to take time to consume some good old fashioned Universal Monster Movies. I'm talking The Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and how could you forget the ever so furry Wolf Man.
I'm of the opinion that the old monster movies are the most superior horror movies. Sure, they may be a bit goofy and the actors can be a little exaggerated, but what is Halloween without a little campy fun? My only hang-up with Universal Monster Movies is that there is no Skeleton Man or Skeleton Lady character. They've got all of the stock Halloween characters in their repertoire, but they couldn't put Boris Karloff in a skeleton suit for a quick 70 minute long flick? What a disappointment, even 90 year later.
