Font - I had a part-time job doing valet parking at an upscale hotel adjacent to an event center. If there was something scheduled at the event center, we'd staff accordingly, but usually we only had two people on. We'd tell incoming guests that if they needed to leave at a specific time to let us know or call down to the front desk ahead of time. If we knew a bunch of guests would be leaving at the same time, we'd start bringing their cars up early so they'd be good to go when the time came.

Font - I was working the morning shift one Saturday along with a guy in his seventies. He was a solid worker, but he couldn't run. I have an artificial hip and a bunch of pins and screws in the same leg; I can run, but I can't keep it up for long, and I pay for it later. We used the parking garage for the event center, which was close to a block away, and because of one-way streets it was a four block drive (with stoplights) to bring a car back up.

Font - There was a large group of people who were in town for a wedding. They had about twenty cars among them. They just started showing up pretty much all at once right when they needed to leave. Most of them realized that they had fucked up, but there was one entitled family that held us responsible. They just would not shut up, and it got worse and worse. The mom didn't say anything, but the dad and his two teenage daughters started out nasty and got worse and worse.

Font - That turned out to be my last day as a valet, because I snapped. I told them that it wasn't my fault they were too stupid to let us know they'd need all their cars ready at eight in the morning, but we were doing our best to fix their fuck-up. I said there were only two of us, and neither of us was an athlete or stunt driver, and that if we had the kind of power over space and time it would take to bring all those cars up with no advanced notice, we wouldn't be there taking his shit.

Font - All three of them started yelling again when I ended my rant. I said, "All right, I've had enough. I quit." I turned to the other people waiting and said, "Now it's going to take twice as long because these assholes don't know when to shut up." I turned back to the dad and said, "I feel like I'm doing your daughters a disservice by not punching you in the mouth, but I know you'd be a little bitch and press charges."

Font - EPILOGUE: The father and daughters were all shouting at my back as I walked away. I sent the guy I was working with a text telling him I was walking out and apologizing for leaving him to deal with everything alone. When I turned in my uniform shirts, the boss told me it took almost forty-five minutes to get the rest of the cars brought up. I have no idea how that impacted the wedding. My assumption is that it either started late, or some of them missed the beginning.

Font - I'm one of those people that can remain cool and composed in situations like that, but I explode if pushed to far. But even then, I remain articulate, and only raise my voice to talk over an interruption. Since I was quitting anyway, I figured, "In for a penny, in for a pound." I've changed since becoming a parent. In my younger days, I would have just bitch slapped him without preamble.

Font - carmium 1 day ago . I went to an event at an old mansion that is now owned by the University Women's Club. Because it's a residential setting, parking is a potential nightmare, and they had valets in charge. They tucked cars behind the house, in lanes, on borrowed property, at curbside - the vehicles just vanished like magic, and were back in one's hands minutes after being called for. I was so npressed; it was the true parking valet's art at work. I'll never complain unless somebody lose

Font - No-Turnips 1 day ago "Ooh....I had to wait a few minutes to have car to door personalized valet service. Wah! There was no fire and no risk of death or injury or financial consequence but stomps feet I don't like having to wait ever! super sulky face Life's not fair and I don't like you" crosses arms. OP - it's all good, I know toddlers and they usually get over their tantrums after a dodo (nap) and a snacky.

Font - Saa Interview1688 - 1 day ago I have a friend who is like this. Is she my hero? Yes. Do I wish I was able to pull off her comebacks? Absolutely. Do I never want her to be that mad at me because I would get owned and then cry? sighhhh Yeahhhh. I'm glad she's on my side.

Font - sargassopearl. 1 day ago How sh tty that NO one in that group said anything to the hideous dad and daughters! 6 Reply Share Rachel Silver OP. 1 day ago A lot of them looked pretty sheepish about it. I hope some of them said something to him afterwards.

Font - i_nobes_what_i_nobes 1 day ago Which indicates that he's been doing that for decades, and they learned from him. The fact the mom just stood there and didn't say anything because she was probably too embarrassed to speak volumes of what their home life is like. And the fact that no one else said anything just shows that they've been dealing with this no one ever told him to stfu.

Font - RevolutionaryBuy5282 21 hr. ago It's disappointing that there wasn't anyone in this group that stepped up and volunteered to shuttle car owners and the valets to the parking lot and exponentially speed it all up. 45+ Reply Share Rachel Silver OP 10 hr. ago They could have also just asked for their keys and gotten their own cars.
