Contentious doesn't even begin to describe how people act about parking lots and getting the perfect spot. For many drivers, it's imperative to get a good spot, even if it takes some time of circling the lot, searching for a spot where no one else is parked too close.
This lucky person, u/bizzzfire, wrote to r/AmItheA**hole with a question about a parking dispute. The OP writes that they were pretty sure they were doing the right thing by protecting their assigned spot, but after their interaction with this guy, they weren't sure if they were "partially in the wrong."
The OP explained that they have a cushy first-floor spot inside a six story parking garage, which they're understandably happy to have. It's an assigned spot system, so every person in the building is able to have their own space… at least until a random person stole the OP's prized parking spot. Not only that, but without their parking spot, the OP was going to have to park on the sixth floor. It would be an extra effort for the OP, and they didn't actually know if they were allowed to park there, since the space was reserved for contractors, not residents.
In the comments, the OP got the support they were looking for, with commenters mainly telling them that they did the right thing by protecting their spot. But the OP was also warned that they should keep a close eye out for their car, since their new neighbor had a rather threatening tone.
Next up, these two started a vacation as friends, and ended it with a massive fight that might end their friendship.
