The irony of withdrawing a candidate's job offer for a position on your company's contracting team—just because they wanted to negotiate their contract—is almost too much. One might expect that it would be taken as a good sign that the candidate is willing to have uncomfortable conversations and negotiate terms… since that's kind of exactly what they're going to be doing for your company.

Still, anything to save a few dollars—or even a few cents. Some employers and business owners will cut off their own noses if it means a reduction in their operating costs in the short term. Things like incentives, growth, and development leading to a stronger delivery of business are a foreign concept when you're constantly acting like an employee asking for a raise is akin to them picking your pocket.
One thing is for sure… While losing the job sucks, the employee sure dodged a bullet—if that's how the employer does business. Here's to hoping they can find a more honest employer within the industry.
