Weekly Internet Roundup: Head Cracked Eggs, Billionaire Anti-Aging, and Plane Freakout Lady Speaks

Greetings. The roundup is back to give the lowdown on some of the silliest and most viral talking points of the past few days. As usual, we have a varied mix of the weird and not-so-wonderful to cap off this week. Get comfortable, we're going to begin.

Tiffany Gomas Says Sorry

The internet has been haunted all summer by the ‘crazy plane lady’ and the unreal individual she claimed to be sitting near on that fateful American Airlines flight. Her rant has inspired plentiful conspiracy theories and memes, as well as many lecherous men who hoped that her viral moment would lead to an OnlyFans.

While the true identity of Tiffany Gomez was discovered towards the end of July, she hadn't broken her silence up until now. She released an apology video on Sunday that immediately led to reactions and speculation that this was not the same woman. More importantly, there wasn't any explanation of what she saw at the back of that plane. That's a mystery to be kept for another, more monetizable day.

TikTok's Cracking Up

It was about time that we had another dumb, vaguely controversial challenge start trending. Summer vacation is almost over, for Christ's sake! The egg crack challenge has arrived just in the nick of time. As the name suggests, the trend involves cracking eggs. The twist is that you do this on somebody's head, and participants have typically been using their kids as the target for the prank.

As we might expect, this has started a whole round of discourse about if this is bad parenting or not. I'd argue that there are people exploiting their children in worse ways for the sake of TikTok views.

Beyond the Point of Tretinoin

Entrepreneur and supplement obsessive Bryan Johnson has been everywhere recently, thanks to a determined PR campaign on his mission to reverse his aging process. His various interviews and photoshoots have offered up plenty of meaty discussion topics, such as his daily 111 pill routine, the way he looked more attractive pre-biohacking, and the, um, “rejuvenation” of his actual meat. Honestly, I think the reason he has received this much attention is that everyone is relieved another deluded billionaire is making the news for once.

All Hail the Anti-Thirst Trap

There's something heartening about watching a piece of media become an essential reaction image for the gay community in real time. Selena Gomez posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday, which celebrity news account Pop Base duly tweeted out not long afterwards.

Showing the singer wrapped in a blanket and staring pensively into the middle distance, the whole cozy setup captured the imagination of countless like-chasers and wannabe comedians. She looks mighty comfortable, I'll give her that.

That's everything that we're going to look at for now. Time to give the relentless virality machine a moment to recharge, so it can give us more ridiculous moments to temporarily obsess over. See ya!
