One of the wildest things about having children is the utter lack of privacy you have for 18 years straight. It's definitely worse at the beginning of your kid's life. You can't even take a shower without thinking about all of the horrible things that could be happening to your baby in the 5-7 minutes it takes to get in and get out. When they get a little older, kids won't even let you have a moment of peace in the bathroom, insisting on watching you poop every time. In Elementary school, they slowly grow out of the "mom, look at me" and "mom, watch what I'm doing" phase, but it seems like it will never end. Eventually, it does end, and your teenagers don't want to spend as much time with you as they once did. Every phase of this process is an important part of growing up, and parents should cherish their time with their children at every juncture.
