Gordon Ramsay has had an awful lot of good will from the internet over the years. This is primarily due to his blunt reviews of other peoples' cooking, and a personality that seems to be tailor-made for memes. It's easy to forget that although he might know cooking inside out, he has still spent much of his life as an out-of-touch rich dude — something that we have been rudely reminded of in a recent viral clip.
Appearing on Jake Humphrey's High Performance Podcast, Ramsay told the world a heartwarming story about how he and his wife already had £20,000 in the bank when he begged his father-in-law for another £20,000 for the down payment on their first house. He was told to sell his Porsche instead, which is what he did.
Spinning the tale as one of struggle and sacrifice, people on Twitter were less than impressed. If only this was the kind of dilemma that everyone had to face.
