It's pretty safe to say that forcing out the only worker in your company who knows the contacts and data for all of your suppliers would be—well… not a great idea. It would be common sense to, at the very least, tactfully make sure that you understand the ins and outs and inner workings of their role before you decide to force them out of the company. But, if you're the sort of manager or employer who is willing to use this strategy as a management tactic, it's probably safe to say that critical thinking isn't one of your strong points.

This worker was in charge of liaising with, ordering from, and managing the accounts with all this logistics company's overseas suppliers, but when they were forced out of the company, their employer quickly realized that no one else had any idea how even to begin to manage the accounts. The worker calls it a "dead man's switch," but it's not really a true dead man's switch when the only thing triggering it is absolute incompetence and the inability to look through a singular Excel spreadsheet.
