Karen Attempts to Intimidate the New Neighbor With Threats of a Lawsuit, Stirring Up a Property Line Dispute That Royally Backfires

Pettiness is a funny feeling. Usually spurred by the outlandish actions of a peer, pettiness can turn the most level-headed individuals into vindictive, vengeance machines, especially when a person is threatened. When it comes to our homes, we're particularly protective and quick to be petty; there's no telling how far a homeowner is willing to go to save their property from destructive forces and no limit to the pettiness in store for those who threaten their well-being. Notoriously, the most destructive force to anyone's home is the neighborhood Karen.

  • For some reason, Karens in every neighborhood feel a sense of entitlement towards the entire town. As if their reach is unbridled by property lines, legal action, or common decency, Karens will try to take whatever morsels they can from their neighbors, simply to flex their power over others. 

  • In our next story, the neighborhood Karen attempted to strong arm her new neighbor by tediously pointing out the flaws in their property schematic. She soon realized the error of her ways after realizing the new neighbor was not to be triffled with. Pettiness will breed more pettiness. He had a great little completion weekend party when everything was mostly done, meet some of his neighbors that weekend which warned him about the "karen" on the adjacent property to the right. My friend did the surveying of the land himself so at the time he thought maybe he made a mistake, and tried to make a more beneficial agreement with the neighbor about sharing the land

    friend realizing he couldn't afford to go to court but could afford a couple hundred bucks to get a government survey done went with that option. Turns out the neighbors cabin was a foot on my friend's land and the neighbor very nice walkway, stairs to the lake, the beautiful boat launch and dock where all in my friends property.

    RCMP for trespassing, also that the neighbors cabin had to be moved or a payment of a thousand dollars a month for land rental would be acceptable. A month later his neighbor moved the cabin moved and had a large fence built splitting their properties.

The neighbor cabin was a fully functioning cabin, electricity, running water and septic tank. If he called my friend's bluff on going to Court he'd probably saved money on having to move his cabin.

    Sweaty_Egg6202 - 1 day ago I watched a court case online with the exact same circumstances. Only the woman. Wouldn't accept the survey he got and got her own. They said the same thing, her path and dock were on his land not the other way around. So she took him to court then it dawned on her she was wrong and she boo hooed to the judge and wanted him to grant it to her because she worked so hard on it.

    BecGeoMom 1 day ago . That neighbor saw a way to make some money, and he banked on the fact that your friend would just take his word for it and pay out of fear. So, when your friend discovered that not only was the neighbor wrong about his cabin & driveway, but that the neighbor's cabin, etc., were on his property, there was no reason to be reasonable and kind. That neighbor deserved every bit of that. And your friend got some nice landscaping and a boat dock out of it. Win-win!

    missannthrope1. 23 hr. ago I saw a video about a couple building a house out of a shipping container on a big piece of property. Neighborhood Karen harassed them constantly. Complained to building dept about their permit. They posted the story on the internets. So many people called the permit dept they stopped answering their phone. They got their permit and Karen had to... it.

    TallChick66 11 hr. ago . A fabulous outcome! A similar thing happened to a client of mine. They bought a waterfront home in the Caribbean. The first thing they did was build a tiki hut down by the water. They next door neighbor did not like it and made a formal complaint that it was on the property line and that they hadn't gotten a permit. Spoiler alert; they had.

    My clients hadn't even moved in yet, but they decided to sell it because they didn't want to live next to a like him. Before listing the house for sale, they got a survey which revealed that the property line was actually about 30 feet closer to the neighbor's house than originally thought. They only owned the home for two months but the extra waterfront land and tiki hut gave them a profit of $200,000. The icing on the cake was that the neighbor was incredibly upset with his shrinking property.
